Self-assignable role panels
Offer useful choices without exposing privileged roles.
Choose appropriate roles
Use ordinary notification, interest or community roles. Do not offer Administrator, moderation, management or other privileged roles through unrestricted self-service. Role hierarchy and existing Discord permissions still matter.
Prepare the bot role
Give PrynBot Manage Roles and place its role above every role it must assign. Managed integration roles cannot be treated as ordinary self-service choices. Check role IDs and server ownership when configuring a panel.
Publish a panel
Use the dashboard’s Self roles module or /roles-panel to choose the destination and allowed roles. Use a clear panel title. Members select roles through the supported buttons or menu; publishing the panel does not make unrelated roles assignable.
Test removal as well as addition
Use a normal account to add and remove each choice. Confirm private channels do not become unintentionally visible. Check the bot role hierarchy if Discord denies an update.
Maintain posted messages
Review panels when you remove roles or change permissions. Old bot-authored components do not transfer between different Discord bot identities. Republish deliberately after an identity migration rather than assuming an old message now belongs to the new bot.
